Our Mission
The Gillespie Center is specifically for seniors, because it is owned by seniors. The center strives to keep seniors
active and independent as long as possible. It also offers a place for seniors to meet new people and build friendships.
Even though the Gillespie Center is targeted at seniors, it welcomes people from all ages. Many of the activities
and fundraisers held at the Gillespie Center attract youth, and young adults. The Center continually tries to reach
out into the community and bring in new people. The Gillespie Center continually works to strengthen the bonds between
different generations and people.
Our History
The Organization started off small, located in a few rooms inside the old high school. Then St. John's Lutheran
Church gave them space in thier Fellowship hall to use. At that time the organization had saved about $250,000, Bill
Gillespy's parents and grandparents donated an incredible amount of charitable money to match the organizations funds five
to one, giving over two million dollars toward a new building. Therefor the new building was dedicated to the parents
and grandparents of Bill Gillespy.
